Once upon a time

I was a sin

& 3/5 of a person

Something to hide

Chorus

Not so long ago

Blacks couldn’t marry Whites

Many of us were sterilized

So here we go

Tick tock some turning back the clock

Verse 2

Fighting yesterdays’ battles

All come together in a huddle

Why r we fighting our own people

Divide & concur the game plan is simple

Chorus

Not so long ago

Blacks couldn’t marry Whites

Many of us were sterilized

So here we go

Tick tock some turning back the clock

Verse 3

Homosexuals were burn on the cross

The same cross use to brainwash

Burning crosses on lawns

The same lawn Neli was profiled on

Bridge

Time comes and goes

Elders die & babies r born

But do we ever learn

Same curriculum institutionalize passed around

We know what our enemies have done

But don’t know what our ancestors have passed down

Chorus

Not so long ago

Blacks couldn’t marry Whites

Many of us were sterilized

So here we go

Tick tock some turning back the clock

Verse 4

We are leaving our footprint

However everybody is on the internet

Black history only for one month

Just to shut us up

2nd Bridge

Rolled back affirmative action

Black man in office no need for actions

X-clansman ran for president

The nerve to ask for Obomma’s birth certificate

Verse 5

Back in the day and today

We wear the mask that is cracking

No more faking the funk

Not George Clinton more like Bill Clinton

Chorus

Not so long ago

Blacks couldn’t marry Whites

Many of us were sterilized

So here we go

Tick tock some turning back the clock

Outer verse

Forward & backwards or sidestepping

Lost in the crosswalk which way to go

Talking about the good old days that we don’t know

Long ago seems like today ouch bumping into the new Jim Crow
